Evi Strasser Enjoys Top Five Placings at CDI Saumur

Canadian Olympian Evi Strasser enjoyed top five placings in the Grand Prix tour at the CDI Saumur held September 20–23 in France.

Strasser rode her longtime partner Quantum Tyme, a 12-year-old Oldenburg gelding (Quattro x Argentinius), to a fourth place finish in the Grand Prix field of 30 competitors with a score of 67.125%.

The pair then moved up one placing to be third overall in the Grand Prix Speciale on a score of 66.600%.

“Quantum was really on both days,” remarked Strasser, who traveled 16 hours to the competition from their European base at the stables of Canadian Team Coach Norbert van Laak. “It really takes some time to get used to riding against all these top international riders; they are just so consistent.”

Strasser has been in Europe since August to start her preparations early in hopes of gaining a berth on the Canadian Olympic Dressage Team who will be competing in Hong Kong next August at the 2008 Olympic Games.

The international judging panel included Wim Ernes (FEI O—HOL), Massimo Petaccia (FEI C—ITL), Stephen Clarke (FEI O—GRB), Jean-Michel Roudier (FEI O—FRA) and Gary Rockwell (FEI O—USA) for the Grand Prix. Kathy Amos-Jacob (FEI I—FRA), Wim Ernes (FEI O—HOL), Gary Rockwell (FEI O—USA), Peter Holler (FEI I—GER) and Bo Jena (FEI C—SWE) were the judging panel for the Grand Prix Special.
