Christilot Boylen and Evi Strasser Earn Multiple Top Ten Placings at CDI Herentals

Christilot Boylen and Evi Strasser represented Canada at CDI Herentals, held September 14–16, in Belgium. The international competition saw riders from over 12 nations vie for top honours.

In the Grand Prix, Boylen and the talented 13-year-old Baden-Wurttemberger gelding Gachino (Gardez x China Town), owned by Mr. & Mrs. Hermosilla, placed fifth out of 25 competitors with a score of 65.542%. The duo was rewarded with even higher scores in the Grand Prix Special where they finished with a score of 66.840%.

“Gachino had a very good Grand Prix Special,” noted Boylen. “We are still experimenting with little changes, but the progress is evident. It was a well organized event with perfect ground conditions, which also contributed to good performances.”

Evi Strasser of Sainte-Adele, QC, rode to a top ten placing in the Grand Prix Freestyle riding her long-time partner Quantum Tyme, a 12-year-old Oldenburg gelding (Quattro x Argentinius), to eighth place on 67.900 %.

In the Advanced division, Boylen guided Alec Murray’s 12-year-old Hanoverian gelding Don Valentino 5 (Don Primero) to back-to-back third places in both the Prix St. Georges (68.400%) and Intermediaire I (69.200 %). The scoring was very close in both classes, with Boylen narrowly missing out on first place honours by less than one percentage point in the Intermediaire I.
